Back in the day, when the NeoGeo was King of the arcades, SNK was releasing multiple games in a year. You had your KOF releasing almost every summer, and evry 2 years or so you would get a Fatal fury, Samurai shodown, Metal Slug or one of the SNK games. IT was pretty much a standard to have the gaming company releasing a number of games within the same year.
After SNK’s bankruptcy and now revival, things seem a lot slower. For example KOFXIV was released two years ago, and the next game from the NeoGeo parent is SNK Heroines which will be released in couple months. This can be attributed to many factors that we will not delves into. The good news however is that SNK is looking to change that.
In an interview with French website lightningamer.com, KOF producer, Yasuyuki Oda, revealed that SNK is hoping to start releasing multiple games per year. This definitely will give fans of Samurai Shodown, Fatal Fury, Metal Slug, or other SNK IPs hope that their favorite title might be resurrected soon.
The interview talks about SNK heroines, and how it is an easy to play game, KOFXIV success which has SNK very happy with how it performed, and Oda san’s favorite KOf character (it’s Mr. Big of all people).
