Update: It seems Vergeben Was Not the original Leaker of the Samurai Shodown Story, nor is he the only who is now revealing the SNK heroines upcoming DLC.

When it comes to rumors, SNK titles have a history of having details revealed ahead of time. For example, we knew about the KOFXIV base roster months before the charactyers were officially revealed. anotehr recent rumor revealed that SNK’s next project was Samurai shodown and that it will use Unreal Engine 4, which was later confirmed by SNK when they released the amazing reveal trailer for the 2019’s Samurai Shodown.

The same leaker who revealed the Samurai Shodown details, Vergeben, has posted on gamefaqs what seems to be a set of info about three SNK titles: Samurai Shodown, The King Of Fighters XV, and SNK Heroines.

Regarding Samurai Shodown, the rumor states that the game has a bigger budget that KOFXIV. It also reveals that in addition to the number of characters shown in that painting (see above) from the reveal trailer, both Rimiruru and Shiki will also be part of the roster. Vergeben adds that he has no idea what the final roster will be but he could confirm these two females warriors at least. Rimururu is Nakoruru’s younger sister and she made her debut in Samurai Shodown 3. Shiki, on the other hand, made her debut in Samurai shodown 64, one of the few titles released on the ill fated Hyper Neo Geo 64 arcade board. Shiki is an enigmatic character who was brainwashed and controlled by the Makai demon Yuga in order to find a suitable warrior to serve the dark lord. She also made her 2d debut in SNK Vs Capcom, and later was playable in the  Neo Geo Battle Colliseum. It is also worth noting that Shiki was a selectable character on the Neo Geo pocket’s SNK Gal Fighters.

The next tidbit relates to the next KOF game. The King Of Fighters XV will be SNK’s next title after Samurai Shodown. The game is currently in early developement. This should not be a surprise to anyone as 2019 marks the 25th anniversary of the KOF franchise.

Finally, if the rumors are true, it looks like SNK Heroines will get more DLC characters. These extra fighters are: A female Skullomania (from Arika’s Fighting EX layer), Miss X (Iori’s female version from the Neo Geo Pocket game SNK Gal Fighters), and Jeanne D’arc from SNK’s World Heroes games.

Obvisouly this should be taken with a grain of salt, but looking at Vergeben’s track record it might turn that this info is indeed a legitimate leak. Time will tell!
