After the decline in Arcade cabinet popularity in Japan a new form of entertainment was taking its place: Slot Machines. Also known as Pachinko machines, these were your regular slot machines but with sophisticated stories and cutscenes.
When SNK was acquired and renamed as SNK Playmore, the company shifted its focus from Video games to Slot machines and started releasing Pachinko games based on the SNK properties. One of these machines was Samurai Spirits Oni, a slot machine based on the popular Samurai Shodown franchise.
The plot of the game was a retelling of the first Samurai Shodown, but with the inclusion of many characters not seen until later sequels, like the Sogetsu brothers or even Shiki and Iroha. What made this particular machine of interest to me is that it featured detailed anime cutscenes by the famous Madhouse Anime studio.
