The folks at Dualshockers.com had the chance to sit and talk to KOF and SNK producer Yasuyuki Oda. The full interview topics range from SNK Heroines to Metal Slug. Below is a rundown of the main tidbits:
The main topic of the interview was the recently released SNK Heroines. Oda san admitted that the game was very divisive in terms of reception, as there are some fans who love it and others who hated the concept. But that is not stopping SNK from announcing that there will be a second wave of DLC characters coming to the game. But anything beyond that has not been decided.
Speaking of SNK Heroines Yasuyuki Oda revealed how SNK was pleased with the fans reaction to the gender bent Terry Bogard. But ruled out the possibility of seeing the female version have a life of her own outside Heroines.
Oda San also revealed that they would like to port The King Of Fighters XIV to the Nintendo Switch, but there are currently some technical limitations that they need to overcome before that can happen.
Switching topics, Oda san revealed that there are a number of games hey would like to reboot, like Fatal Fury, however he specifically asked how would gamers react to a Metal Slug reboot with the one hit kill the previous games were known for. This is the second time in recent weeks that Oda san mentions a Metal Slug reboot which might indicate that we might get a revival of the classic shooter soon.
Both Samurai Shodown and The King Of Fighters XV were briefly mentioned. The former only in one instance where Oda expressed how happy SNK is with the initial reception the reveal trailer has gotten. As for KOFXV Oda san revealed that early talks about the sequel have started, but adds that we are a long way from seeing a release.
